This course gives students the knowledge and to recertify their qualification, interpret and apply the International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR) to shipments of dangerous goods and hazardous materials being sent by air. This is a CASA approved training course.
Course Content
The course is designed to provide guidance and knowledge in all areas of handling and transporting dangerous goods by air. Including:
Dangerous Goods terminology
Australian Dangerous Goods legislation and it’s relation with ICAO
General philosophy on carriage of dangerous goods
Shippers responsibilities
Operators responsibilities
A full description of all 9 classes
Classification of dangerous goods
Identification (UN numbers, proper shipping names, etc)
Dangerous goods in limited quantities
Dangerous goods in excepted quantities
Packing, marking and labelling a dangerous goods consignment
Completion of documentation. (shippers declaration & air waybill)
Handling, stowage and segregation
Recognising hidden dangerous goods
Acceptance procedures
Classroom assignments and exercises will give practical experience to put students knowledge to the test. This will prepare participants for their final assessment.
Course Recognition
This course is approved by Civil Aviation Safety Authority. A certificate is issued on successful completion at the end-of-course assessment and the qualification is valid for two years. All participants will be notified of course dates available for recertification to keep your qualification current. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.
Who Should Attend?
If you are a shipper, freight forwarder, ground handling agent or operator involved with the movement of dangerous goods by air, then this is the ideal course for you.
No previous knowledge or experience with dangerous goods or air transport is required to be able to complete the course.
To remain certified, you are required to complete a recertification course every two years following the completion of your initial acceptance certification.
This course can only be completed if your qualification has not expired. You will need to provide a record of your current certificate.
