Lithium Batteries by Air

This course gives students the knowledge to interpret and apply the International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR) to shipments of dangerous goods and hazardous materials being sent by air. This is a CASA approved training course.

Description

The course is designed to provide guidance and knowledge of lithium batteries with the handling and transporting dangerous goods by air. Including:

 

  1. Dangerous Goods terminology
  2. Australian Dangerous Goods legislation and its relation with ICAO
  3. General philosophy on the carriage of dangerous goods
  4. Shippers responsibilities
  5. Operators responsibilities
  6. A full description of classes 9, 6.2 and 2.2
  7. Classification of dangerous goods
  8. Identification (UN numbers, proper shipping names, etc)
  9. Packing, marking, and labeling a dangerous goods consignment
  10. Completion of documentation. (shippers declaration & air waybill)
  11. Handling and segregation
  12. Recognising hidden dangerous goods

 

Classroom assignments and exercises will give practical experience to put students' knowledge to the test. This will prepare participants for their final assessment.

 

Course Recognition

This course is approved by Civil Aviation Safety Authority. A certificate is issued on successful completion at the end-of-course assessment and the qualification is valid for two years. All participants will be notified of course dates available for recertification to keep their qualifications current. Your certification will be valid for 2 years.
