Tip 3 – Segregation Matrix

Dangerous Goods must be stored according to the SDS, regulations and site controls.

Often, certain types of Dangerous Goods are incompatible and must be stored apart to avoid a reaction.

The Segregation Matrix shows the correct storage distance between each type of Dangerous Goods.

See the example below which shows how you must store Nitric Acid (Class 8) in the vertical side of the matrix and Petrol (Class 3) in the horizontal side.

As you can see the segregation distance is a minimum of 3 metres.

Note – Food or food related products must be stored a minimum of 5m away from Dangerous Goods.

5. PPE - Protect the worker with Personal Protective Equipment
